A Brief Introduction of China National Food Industry Association
    China National Food Industry Association (CNFIA) is a national industry regulatory of the food industry established in 1981, with the approval of the State Council. A national food industry regulation network has come into being with the successive setting up of food industry associations in various provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government and separately listed cities in the national economic development plan, and of those under the two levels of prefecture (municipal) and county governments. In order to adapt to the specialized needs of social and economic development, a group of special committees and subcommittees representing branches of the food industry have been set up by CNFIA CNFIA employs both group and individual membership systems. The President of CNFIA is its legal representative. The secretary general takes charge of CNFIA’s daily work .
Purpose of CNFIA
    The purpose of CNFIA is: to provide food enterprises with all -dimension services under the guidance of Deng Xiao Ping Theory, taking economic growth as its central task and adhering to socialist market economic rules; to reflect production and operational needs of food enterprises and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests; to coordinate and develop inter-province, inter-branch and inter-enterprise relationships and cooperation and to play the role of a bridge and link between the government and food enterprises so as to promote healthy development of China's food industry and satisfy the needs of the continuously rising living standards of various peoples in both urban and rural areas .
Mission OF CNFLA
    1. Conducting surveys and research into the structure of the food industry, product mix, food production and marketing, etc; and putting forward to relevant government departments recommendations on issues concerning planning, guidelines, industrial policies, and laws and regulations concerning state food industry development;
    2. Conducting national nutritional studies with a view towards promoting a healthy, balanced diet as well as researching scientific, efficient food production techniques and raising the standard of public nutrition;
    3. Implementing the strategy of developing the country by relying on science and education, carrying out technological exchanges and consulting activities; organizing appraisal of scientific and technological attainments and new products; actively spreading excellent scientific and technological achievements and equipment; promoting enterprise innovation and the development of the food industry and commending and rewarding fine projects ,advanced individuals and units ;
    4. Formulating rules and regulations of the food industry and supervising their implementation, safeguarding members’ legitimate rights and interests, coordinating inter-member relationships and reporting members’ requirements to the government; strengthening ties of group members with corporate status in different provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government; enhancing professional self-discipline, creating and improving an environment of fair competition within the industry; actively and prudently setting up nationwide special committees of the food industry and giving guidance to their work;
    5. Collecting domestic and foreign information and analyzing the developments of the industry, releasing relevant industrial information and running the Association's newspaper, magazines and year book etc.;
    6. Sponsoring lectures seminars, experience exchanges and special exhibitions for promoting information exchange, and organizing various types of training courses for the training of competent food industry personnel and the improving of the overall quality of food enterprises;
    7. Conducting quality supervision and regulation, organizing recommendation of fine products, monitoring their production, quality and publicity so as to improve quality supervision; organizing and participating in the formulation and amendment of state and industrial standards for the food industry as well as supervising their implementation;
    8. Strengthening ties with foreign food industries and relevant organizations as well as conducting international technological exchanges and cooperation with them;
    9. Developing public welfare programs and setting up economic entities, and reinforcing self-organizational building, strengthening its own ability to provide services to the industry;
    10. Conducting, with the authorization of and on commission by the relevant government departments, pre-feasibility studies on major projects of technological renovation and the introduction of foreign technology, the production and business licenses of the industry and carrying out other activities beneficial to the industry.
